"Dad, I had a bad dream."
A true story about how I was out smarted by my three-year-old son
“Dad, I had a bad dream.”
My three-year-old son shook me awake. I looked at the clock on my nightstand. 2:00 in the morning.
I groaned.
"Let's go back to your bed, buddy."
We purchased him a twin bed for this exact reason. But just a few nights ago, he insisted we flip it into a loft bed.
I sighed. Climbing into his bed wasn't an option. I guess it was the recliner for me.
"Good night, buddy."
Four hours later, my wife shook me awake.
"Did you know he's in our bed?" She asked.
And sure enough, sometime in the middle of the night, our son had snuck out of his bed, tiptoed past me, and taken my place on my side of the bed while I slept in the chair in his room.
Well played, son. Well played.
